Happy Friday DeRacers, it’s time to recap what DeRace game development team has accomplished throughout this week!
Say hello to your DeRace NFT horsie!
We did it! The DeRace NFT horse ticket exchange is fully functioning and many of you have already redeemed your horses from the very first drops. Now all DeRacers can prep their stables for the upcoming game beta!
Since the party is starting very soon, it’s time to find a date! To celebrate ticket exchange, the marketing team decided to have fun and launched a giveaway/game for the NFT horse owners to win a mate for their NFT horse to cozy up during the winter!

Final touches on the racing Smart Contract
The DeRace development team is putting their final touches on the horse racing smart contract — the main structure governing the horse races in the DeRace metaverse.
By implementing a smart contract we make sure that horse races in the DeRace metaverse are fair and enjoyable to all participants. You will be able to experience it first hand when racing your NFT horse in the beta version of the game already this December.
Finalising the racetracks
This week game developers have been testing different lengths and shapes of the hippodrome racetrack. Furlong! This was definitely the word of the week for our team!
(💡Interesting fact: A furlong is a unit of measurement that’s equal to 220 yards. It takes eight furlongs to make a mile. Using the international definition of the yard as exactly 0.9144 metres, one furlong is 201.168 metres and five furlongs are about 1 kilometre ( 1.00584 km exactly).
These days, the measurement is mainly used to mark distances in horse racing. Furlongs were once a common way to measure farmland, with one furlong being the length of a furrow in a 10-acre field.)
Besides the technical part of the racetrack we have been working on the visual part of the hippodrome: designing the looks of the environment, even adding spectators! Also, we are working on race and environment animations during the racing event!
We’re dying to get you a sneak peek soon!
UX of the platform
Apart from the development of the game itself, the team is also working on the UX of the platform. Together with inhouse and outsourced UX and UI designers we are looking for the best solution to display the race list, results, NFT horse win-rate statistics, breeding history and other important information.
The development team is making it work and testing the technical aspects of the interface! Here is a snippet of the “work environment” of the UX designer:
Now it’s time for touch ups and polishing! We can’t wait to test out the final interface version live on the platform!
See you next Friday with more exciting news on our upcoming game
