Below is a brief interview with CMS Holdings representative Kevin McCordic in which he explains CMS’s decision to invest in DeRace along with other important market insights.
Please introduce your fund
CMS is a principal investment firm that operates in the cryptocurrency space. CMS deals in both liquid and illiquid investment strategies.
Why did you decide to invest in DeRace?
We think DeRace is well-positioned between gaming, NFTs, and sports gambling. Their strong product ideas and roadmap combined with their highly talented team gave us high conviction in investing in DeRace. We also want to host internal NFT horse races on Fridays.
What are your current predictions for the NFT and crypto markets in 2021?
NFTs and gaming have performed very well even in the face of the recent market declines. There is real traction with people outside of crypto which adds a layer to the potential of NFT projects. Also, there has been no shortage of investment capital rolling into the NFT space as both crypto and traditional investors begin to place bets on its future.
How do you think DeRace can revolutionize both gaming and gambling markets?
DeRace can act as a bridge to narrow the current gap between NFT gaming and sports gambling. Its unique combination of in-game features allows players to compete in a similar style to video games while also gambling on the outcome.
What is your thesis around NFT projects as an investment?
NFT projects have proven to be very successful if they are able to garner enough hype and traction. Many NFT projects have tried and failed to pique and sustain interest. However, the few that have are some of the best investment opportunities in the space. We think DeRace has the potential to be a winner in this regard.
What is your most anticipated feature in DeRace?
Personally, I’m very excited about the strategy around breeding and racing horses in DeRace. Similar to real horse racing, I think the strategy involved here will evolve over time, and I’m excited to test and play with this portion of the game.
What are your expectations from DeRace for 2021?
We expect a clean, easy-to-use UI that allows players to interact with the platform in a similar way to a traditional video game. We also expect the tokenomics of the game to favor people who play and compete, rather than just token holders. Lastly, we expect a fun and entertaining race day atmosphere. Building an API to live stream large races to Twitter could be a great way to generate hype and make the game more fun.
