This August marked the launch of our much-anticipated Free Trial Mode, a major step forward in making zkRace more accessible to new players.
The Free Trial Mode provides an opportunity for newcomers to explore the zkRace ecosystem without any initial commitment, allowing them to fast-track their skills and understanding of the game mechanics. By focusing on a seamless onboarding experience, we’ve disabled complex features like NFT burning and withdrawal to ensure a straightforward introduction to the game.
After incorporating substantial community feedback, we conducted extensive testing to refine this feature, ensuring every new addition was smoothly integrated and fully functional. The community’s insights were invaluable, helping us shape Free Trial Mode into an intuitive and welcoming experience for new users. The mode not only introduces players to the basics of the game but also rewards them upon completion, fostering early engagement and a positive first impression of zkRace.

Player Onboarding: New Strategy
In line with the launch of Free Trial Mode, we’ve focused on optimizing the new player onboarding process. These quests are designed to seamlessly transition players from the trial to full participation in the zkRace ecosystem, enhancing player retention and community growth. With fantastic prizes up for grabs for completing these quests, we’re setting the stage for significant user expansion and deeper engagement.
We’ve also completed the development of an API for Free Trial Mode quests. This API integration allows third-party platforms to track player progress within the Free Trial Mode, facilitating participation in quests and rewarding achievements.
Moving forward, we will continue to refine these onboarding processes and expand our partnerships to include more Web3 game aggregators. Our goal is to make zkRace a gateway for newcomers to Web3 gaming, providing an engaging and rewarding introduction that encourages long-term participation.
Ancestry Rewards and Future Gen Breeding: More Ways to Get Rewarded in zkRace
August also saw continued progress in the Ancestry Rewards and Gen1 breeding infrastructure.
Our team has been busy developing back-end infrastructure that supports a robust and diverse breeding system. We have also begun designing the user interface for Ancestry Rewards, focusing on creating a clear and easy-to-understand display. This interface will allow players to easily track their earnings from horse breeding activities, making the rewards system more transparent and engaging.
As we continue to develop and refine the breeding and rewards systems, our aim is to launch these features together, providing our community with new ways to engage with and get rewarded in zkRace.
NFT Horse Staking: Creating Horse Retirement System
This month, we began crafting the logic for NFT Horse staking, which will allow players to stake their horses and earn Sugar Cubes.
This new feature is designed to add more utility to the NFTs within zkRace, providing long-term value to horse owners and deepening player engagement within our metaverse.
zkRace developers have been focused on developing a secure, fair, and transparent staking system. This includes creating back-end logic that accurately tracks staking periods, calculates rewards, and ensures easy and secure unstaking processes.
Moving forward, our game economist will go over the Sugar Cubes’ economy to ensure it can support Horse Retirement rewards sustainably and support the broader game ecosystem effectively.
Feature Enhancements and Platform Improvements: Better UX = Smoother Game
In addition to these major developments, August has been a month of significant enhancements across the platform. We introduced a new system for tracking record-breaking performances in our Leaderboards, ensuring that top achievers are recognized and rewarded promptly.
We also optimized the website, Race Intro and Tournament features for smoother performance and improved the user experience on our landing page. These improvements are crucial for attracting new players and retaining existing ones, as they ensure that every user interaction with zkRace is smooth and engaging.
Community Spotlight
We reviewed community suggestions from our Discord server, prioritizing them for implementation based on their potential impact. This has involved detailed planning and integration into our development roadmap to ensure that we continue to meet and exceed our community’s expectations.
We also introduced the “Speed Racer” bot, an automated horse racing tool developed by a zkRace community builder, Graham, that makes racing more efficient and strategic for the players. This addition has been well-received by the community, enhancing the gaming experience for our players and providing them with new tools to optimize their gameplay.
