What are Ancestry Rewards?
The Ancestry Rewards system pays out a percentage of breeding fees to the owners of ancestor horses. This system aims to:
1. Reward Long-Term Owners: Recognize and reward players who have held onto their horses and contributed to the ecosystem’s growth.
2. Control Breeding Pace: Manage the rate of breeding to maintain a balanced game economy.
The Ancestral Rewards system brings benefits to both long-time and new players in the zkRace community:
- For long-time players and early adopters: It rewards their loyalty and dedication with ongoing payouts.
- For new players: It ensures a balanced and dynamic economy, incentivizing breeding and maintaining lineage.
- Overall: This system creates a more engaging and sustainable game environment, encouraging all players to breed more strategically, enriching the ecosystem.
Breeding Fees Breakdown
Currently, breeding fees consist of only a System fee. With the introduction of Ancestry Rewards, an additional Ancestral fee will be included. The System fee is currently fixed at 50 $ZERC, while the Ancestral fee will increase by 10 $ZERC with each subsequent generation. Here’s how it works:
Payout Distribution
The Ancestral fee is distributed among the ancestors of the breeding pair, ensuring that every generation benefits from the breeding activities of their descendants.
Gen 1 Breeding
Ancestral fee is distributed among the owners of the parents of each Gen 1 equally.
Gen 1 + Gen 1 Pairing Example
Total Ancestral Fee: 10 $ZERC
Payout: 2.50 $ZERC to each of the 4 ancestors
Gen 2+ Breeding
- 50% of the Ancestral fee will always be split amongst the nearest ancestors (the parents of the breeding pair)
- The remaining ancestors will split the remaining 50% equally.
Gen 2 + Gen 1 Pairing Example
Total Ancestral Fee: 20 $ZERC
Nearest Ancestors (the parents of the breeding pair): 2.5 $ZERC each (50% of 20 $ZERC split between 4 parents)
Remaining Ancestors: 10 $ZERC split among the next level of ancestors (50% of 20 $ZERC split among the rest of ancestors)
Gen 3 + Gen 2 Pairing Example
Total Ancestral Fee: 30 $ZERC
Nearest Ancestors (the parents of the breeding pair): 3.75 $ZERC each (50% of 30 $ZERC split between 4 parents)
Remaining Ancestors: 15 $ZERC split among other ancestors
Unique Situations
- Missing Parents: If breeding involves Gen 0 horses or generated horses without parents, the Ancestral fee is split among the available ancestors.
- Breeding your own horses may return the Ancestral fee you spent, as you may receive part of the fee back through the rewards distributed to the ancestors (if you own the ancestors of the horses you’re breeding)

- Benefits for new community members: Purchasing a Gen0 horse now may yield rewards if the Gen 0 horse already has offspring, incentivizing new user participation in the ecosystem.
